Golf Classic opens doors for charity
OPEN Door Day Care Centre recently gratefully accepted a cheque to the value of €11,500, the sum raised by the Reggie Corrigan Golf Classic which took place on September 11.
The funds were presented to Suzanne Cox, Development Officer at Open Door, by John Nolan of Greeenstar, who sponsored the event, and event organiser Gerry Lyster. Suzanne, who thanked everyone who took part on the day as well as sponsors and those who donated prizes, said that the money will go directly to Open Door and will be used to ‘continue to provide services and activities for adults with physical disabilities.’
Open Door has a modern, purpose built activity centre on the Vevay Road and relies heavily on fundraising for its operations.
Members of Open Door have varyng disabilities as a result of stroke, cerebral palsy, multiple sclerosis, motor neurone disease, spina bifida and road accidents, amongst others.
