Golf Clas­sic opens doors for char­ity

OPEN Door Day Care Cen­tre re­cently grate­fully ac­cepted a cheque to the value of €11,500, the sum raised by the Reg­gie Cor­ri­gan Golf Clas­sic which took place on Septem­ber 11.

The funds were pre­sented to Suzanne Cox, De­vel­op­ment Of­fi­cer at Open Door, by John Nolan of Greeen­star, who spon­sored the event, and event or­gan­iser Gerry Lys­ter. Suzanne, who thanked every­one who took part on the day as well as spon­sors and those who do­nated prizes, said that the money will go di­rectly to Open Door and will be used to ‘con­tinue to pro­vide ser­vices and ac­tiv­i­ties for adults with phys­i­cal dis­abil­i­ties.’

Open Door has a mod­ern, pur­pose built ac­tiv­ity cen­tre on the Ve­vay Road and re­lies heav­ily on fundrais­ing for its op­er­a­tions.

Mem­bers of Open Door have varyng dis­abil­i­ties as a re­sult of stroke, cere­bral palsy, mul­ti­ple scle­ro­sis, mo­tor neu­rone dis­ease, spina bi­fida and road ac­ci­dents, amongst oth­ers.
