Barista Neida is cream of the crop
BRAY woman Neida Ficova scooped a bronze medal in the Barista Class at the recent Sodexo 2008 Salon Culinaire, the annual staff culinary competition run by the food and facilities management company.
Neida is based at Dell in Cherrywood and joined hundreds of entrants at the event.
Under the watchful eyes of a team of judges led by Brendan O’Neill, executive head chef at the Red Cow Moran Hotel in Dublin, heated but friendly competition flavoured the event as both chefs and non-chef entrants cooked up ingenious recipes to try and land first place in their individual categories, which included signature breakfasts, gourmet four course dinners and modern vegetarian dishes as well as dessert tarts, novelty cakes, sumptuous sandwiches and making the perfect cappuccino or latte.
‘Competitions like this are an opportunity to showcase staff talent,’ said managing director Jeremy Dicks.
