Round­wood stay ahead of the pack

En­niskerry YC B 1, Round­wood FC 2: Round­wood did just enough to keep their place at the top of Divi­sion 2 in this hard fought con­test in Divi­sion 2.

DIVI­SION 2 With Ark­low Town, Avon­more FC and St. Kevin’s all breath­ing down their necks Round­wood went into this dif­fi­cult fix­ture know­ing a win was vi­tal.

And they got it thanks to goals from John Sayer and Thomas Fitz­patrick.

Ger Har­vey net­ted for the hosts.

Avon­more FC 5, Fas­saroe YC 1: An im­pres- sive early start to the sea­son was built on by Avon­more this week as they handed out a drub­bing to Fas­saroe YC.

Avon­more now lie in third spot af­ter Johnny Mur­phy, James Busher, Oliver Byrne, Eu­gene Dunne and Jonathan Poole all scored for the hosts.

Keith Byrne scored for Bray side Fas­saroe, who are now lin­ger­ing near the foot of the ta­ble with three points to show for their ef­forts so far this sea­son.

Bal­ly­waltrim FC 1, St. Kevin’s 2: St. Kevin’s kept up their early form last Sun­day when they trav­elled to Bray to take on the young Bray side and emerged vic­to­ri­ous.

Liam McEvoy and Tommy Cullen both hit the onion sack for the vis­i­tors.

Kevin Melia notched Bal­ly­waltrim’s solo ef­fort.

Red­bank United 1, Celtic Stars 3: An­other week without a win for Red­bank United and their de­fen­sive woes cost them again last Sun­day when they let in three goals.

De­clan Carstairs did find the net for United but they couldn’t hold out Celtic Stars who won the three points thanks to strikes from Fran­cis Byrne, Mark Collins and Robert Ryan.

St. An­thony’s 0, Ark­low Town B 3: Divi­sion 1 foot­ball could be on the cards for Ark­low Town this sea­son and if they can keep up this kind of form that dream could be­come re­al­ity.

The Town now sit just one point off leaders Round­wood but they have played two games less than the leaders so sit in a great po­si­tion.

Shane Doyle bagged him­self a brace for Ark­low and Ed­die Dunne rounded off the scor­ing.
