Aughrim are best in nine-goal thriller
St. Peter’s Bhoys B 4, Aughrim Rangers A 5: Aughrim Rangers stole a march on one of their biggest rivals in Division 1 when they won this thriller by the smallest of margins.
DIVISION 1 It’s very rare that a side will score four goals and walk off the pitch with no points but St. Peter’s learned just what that felt like this week. Fergie Martin (2), Noel Stevens and James McLaughlin all fired home for the hosts but it wasn’t enough as Aughrim ran out 5-4 winners courtesy of a Rory O’Brien hat-trick and singles from Niall Byrne and Don Jackman.
St. Fergal’s 3 Wicklow Rovers 4: A cracking game of football was played out in Bally- waltrim last Sunday with in-form Wicklow Rovers emerging the winners.
This result now leaves Rovers just one point behind Fergal’s as they sit in midtable.
Ian Flanagan scored two goals for the hosts and Thomas Cowan also found the net.
Rovers’ heroes on the day were Seán Tobin (2), Tom Byrne and Paul Newsome.
Wicklow Town B 1, Arklow United A 1: Goals from John Connors and Mark Harte cancelled each other out in this match played at Finlay Park last Sunday.
It was the first point of the new season for Wicklow who now move off the bottom while it helps United to maintain their midtable position.
