Young soccer star Chris has a week to remember
IT CERTAINLY has been a week to remember for young Chris Lyons, writes Daniel Gorman.
The Belvedere FC striker came off the bench during the week for the Republic of Ireland U-16 side when they were trailing 3-2 to their Northern counterparts and won the penalty from which the ‘Boys in Green’ equalised.
Then on Saturday while his beloved Manchester United were being held to a 1-1 draw by Everton, he was helping his Gaelic team Bray Emmets to win a county final, picking up the man of the match award along the way.
The Bray man used to play for Wicklow side Ardmore Rovers but decided to move on to Shelbourne.
Then at the start of this season he joined Belvedere and had a new manager in the shape of Roy McCann, who has been a huge influence on the multi-talented youngster.
He still dreams of becoming a professional footballer but as his proud father Noel pointed out what young footballer doesn’t.
Christopher Lyons from Bray, who came on as a substitute for the Irish Under-16 team.
