New fine for not hear­ing your name be­ing called in court

JUDGE Mur­rough Con­nel­lan in­formed the court that in the new year de­fen­dants who are in the court vicin­ity but fail to hear their case be­ing called will face a fine.

‘In the new year those who have come to court but don’t hear their case called will be or­dered to put a sum in the poor box.

‘This may avoid un­nec­es­sary bench war­rants be­ing is­sued,’ warned Judge Con­nel­lan.
