Concern growing at number of ‘one-off houses’ permission
CONCERN over the increasing numbers of instances where Wicklow County Council members have directed the County Manager to grant planning permission for one-off houses where the planning department has made clear its opposition, has been raised at Council Chambers.
An unusually high number of ‘Section 104’ directions on Monday’s agenda prompted Cllr. George Jones to question whether the increase is set to become a trend at future meetings.
Director of Services Des O’Brien told members that planners go to great lengths to visit sites and revisit files but that there is still a perception that it is preferable to get a Section 104 even if planners advise against development on a given site.
