Rebel Diamond get to finals of 2FM regional rock competition
WICKLOW BAND Rebel Diamond have reached the RTÉ 2FM School of Rock Leinster Regional Finals and will be hoping their talent will wing them all the way to the national finals.
DJ Larry Gogan unveiled the five Leinster bands chosen to compete for a place on the final, but first they will all be put through their paces in the Leinster Regional Heat held in the Sky Venue, Portlaoise on Saturday December 13.
Rebel Diamond is made up of 16-year-old Andrew Hanlon on lead guitar, Nicholas Lumsden aged 15 on guitar on guitar, 16-year-old Rory O’Sullivan on bass guitar and 15year-old drummer Dylan Povey.
On hearing the good news that they had been selected to compete in the regional final, Andrew said, ‘ we can’t believe we’ve got through and we are looking forward to playing at the Regional Finals.
‘ We’d love to win this competition and we’ll give it our best shot’ All the members of the band have played or still play for Wicklow Rovers AFC and already released a song in 2007 named Rocky Road when all the band were just 14.
The School of Rock judges for the regional heats include; Cormac Battle of RTÉ 2fm, Ken Allen of Faction Records and musician Mark Greaney of Concerto for Constantine ( formerly of JJ72).
