Rebel Di­a­mond get to fi­nals of 2FM re­gional rock com­pe­ti­tion

WICK­LOW BAND Rebel Di­a­mond have reached the RTÉ 2FM School of Rock Le­in­ster Re­gional Fi­nals and will be hop­ing their tal­ent will wing them all the way to the na­tional fi­nals.

DJ Larry Go­gan un­veiled the five Le­in­ster bands cho­sen to com­pete for a place on the fi­nal, but first they will all be put through their paces in the Le­in­ster Re­gional Heat held in the Sky Venue, Port­laoise on Satur­day De­cem­ber 13.

Rebel Di­a­mond is made up of 16-year-old An­drew Han­lon on lead gui­tar, Ni­cholas Lums­den aged 15 on gui­tar on gui­tar, 16-year-old Rory O’Sul­li­van on bass gui­tar and 15year-old drum­mer Dy­lan Povey.

On hear­ing the good news that they had been se­lected to com­pete in the re­gional fi­nal, An­drew said, ‘ we can’t be­lieve we’ve got through and we are looking for­ward to play­ing at the Re­gional Fi­nals.

‘ We’d love to win this com­pe­ti­tion and we’ll give it our best shot’ All the mem­bers of the band have played or still play for Wick­low Rovers AFC and al­ready re­leased a song in 2007 named Rocky Road when all the band were just 14.

The School of Rock judges for the re­gional heats in­clude; Cor­mac Bat­tle of RTÉ 2fm, Ken Allen of Fac­tion Records and mu­si­cian Mark Gre­aney of Con­certo for Con­stan­tine ( for­merly of JJ72).
