Hard work pays off as town is pre­sented with Liv­Com award

THE CHAM­BER of Grey­stones Town Coun­cil was packed last Tues­day evening as del­e­ga­tions from both Ed­u­cate To­gether and Red­ford Park at­tended, and all present were held in thrall by Cllr. Grainne McLough­lin’s pre­sen­ta­tion of the Liv­Com Awards en­try.

This fol­lowed the victory of Grey­stones in the re­cent Liv­Com Awards in Dong­guan China re­cently, when Cllr. McLough­lin, Cllr. Ge­orge Jones and Town Man­ager Sean Quirke gave a joint pre­sen­ta­tion to the judges all about the best bits of Grey­stones. A pro­mo­tional film on the town was played af­ter­wards.

Cllr. Jones said that one of the main lessons to be learned from the event in China was the amount amount of ef­fort that is be­ing made by Cities and Towns in China, New Zealand, Aus- tralia and Europe to en­sure that their com­mu­ni­ties are sus­tain­able.

Cllr. Grainne McLough­lin, who was Mayor of Grey­stones when the process to pre­pare for the awards be­gan, was pre­sented with a bou­quet of flow­ers in recog­ni­tion for her hard work on the project. The pre­sen­ta­tion and the film are avail­able to view on www.live­co­mawards.com
