Ea­ger chil­dren in­vested into Beavers

A GROUP of chil­dren had the hon­our of be­ing in­vested into the Beavers, the first club a child joins on the way to be­com­ing a scout, at the Grey­stones Scout Den last Thurs­day.

The chil­dren, aged be­tween six and seven, be­came mem­bers of the 1st Wick­low/2nd Dublin scout group. In the weeks lead­ing up to their in­vesti­ture, the 20 kids com­pleted a num­ber of ba­sic tasks to show that they could work as part of a team.

Joan Jones, scout group leader, said that they were pre­sented with a cer­tifi­cate last week to ce­ment their mem­ber­ship in the Beavers. She said that a num­ber of moth­ers and fathers as well as broth­ers and sis­ters came along to wit­ness the beginning of their scouting ca­reers.
