Man (72) given a driving ban
A 72-year-old man who admitted to drinking ‘2-3 pints and some whiskey during the day,’ entered a plea of not guilty to drunken driving.
John Farmer, with an address of 103 Fairyhill, was fined €2,500 and disqualified from driving for three years, postponed to May 1.
There was a conflict of evidence in that Sgt. Sheehan said he asked for a driving licence and when the accused could not deliver the document he asked him to produce it at the station. Farmer said he was not asked to do so.
‘He appeared very genuine giving evidence and may well believe he was not asked to but I accept the Garda evidence,’ said Judge Connellan before handing down the penalties.
