Call 999 when you’re in trouble!

CALL 999 in an emergency, rather than a family member, say Dr. Mark Hamilton and Sinead Desmond from TV3 and the Irish Heart Foundation.

The two presenters were at the launch of the Irish Heart Foundation and Vodafone Ireland Foundation new funding partnership last week.

The national heart health charity said that vital minutes are often lost because a call is made to a relative or clergyman first. 70 per cent of cardiac arrests occur outside of hospital in front of a family member or friend so it is vital to call 999.

Calling 999 is the first of four vital links in the resuscitation ‘Chain of Survival’, immediately followed by early CPR, early defibrillation and early access to advanced care.
