OPEN NIGHT

Open Night will be held on Thurs­day 4th De­cem­ber from 6.30pm to 9.00pm. Open Night af­fords par­ents and chil­dren from the com­mu­nity and be­yond an op­por­tu­nity to visit the school, view its fa­cil­i­ties and meet with staff and stu­dents. We hope it will be a fun filled, event­ful and en­ter­tain­ing evening for all who at­tend. Classes will end at 12.35p.m. to fa­cil­i­tate prepa­ra­tions for the night. Trans­port is not guar­an­teed at this time.

PRI­VATE MEM­BERS DRAW

The fourth and fifth draws in the Par­ents’ As­so­ci­a­tion Pri­vate Mem­bers Draw took place on Tues­day Novem­ber 25 and Fri­day Novem­ber 28 at morn­ing as­sem­bly. The prize win­ners of draw 4 were 1st Prize: Mr McDon­ald and Ms Har­mon, Kilped­dar; 2nd Prize: Martin Stacey, Round­wood and 3rd Prize: Mr. Evoy. The win­ners in draw 5 were 1st Prize: Betty Doyle, c/o Cough­lans Kil­coole; 2nd Prize: Aoife Gaffney, Kil­coole and 3rd Prize: Mr and Mrs Carey, Wick­low. There are five more draws with the tenth draw of­fer­ing a first prize of •1000. Tick­ets may still be bought from the school at •20 each.

STAFF MEET­ING

A re­minder to all that there will be a staff meet­ing on Fri­day De­cem­ber 5th from 1.15p.m. to 3.45p.m. Classes will end at 12.35p.m. Trans­port is not guar­an­teed at this time.

IN­SER­VICE

There will be a staff in­ser­vice on Mon­day next, De­cem­ber 8th. School will be closed for stu­dents on that day.

TRAN­SI­TION YEAR

On Tues­day last, all Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents went to the Ir­ish Film In­sti­tute in Dublin to see a French movie, OEDe Bat­tre Mon Coeur S’est Ar­reté ˆ The Beat That My Heart Skipped’.

The stu­dents have also com­pleted their First Aid exam, which was fa­cil­i­tated by Mr. John Kee­gan from the Ir­ish Red Cross.

WELL DONE

Con­grat­u­la­tions to Amy Diviney in Tran­si­tion Year, who re­cently sub­mit­ted an es­say to the re­cent REMEDI Na­tional Sci­ence Es­say Com­pe­ti­tion en­ti­tled „Bound­aries of Sciende: Is there any­thing we should not do?‰ Amy’s es­say was short­listed into the top five en­trants and, as such, re­ceived an of­fi­cial com­men­da­tion from the judg­ing panel.
