Something for everyone

Bray People - - Schoolsreport -

FROM a nice bottle of wine, to a luxurious winter coat, or even a new car for that special someone, the north of the county is rich with fine retailers who can guarantee quality, style and a friendly approach.

From Newtown and Newcastle, to Greystones and the rest of North Wicklow, there are hidden treats around every corner, just a short distance from home and without fear of battling with the hectic pace of the city.

Enniskerry, Greystones, and other towns and villages in the area have made an extra special effort at Christmas cheer this year, with fantastic festive lights displays and a taste of the nostalgia of days gone by. Santa himself is even on hand at Greystones Theatre every day until Christmas to have a chat with the kids’ before the big day rolls around.

We all like to look our best for the season of goodwill, and there are a number of local beauty salons and hairdressers who will add that personal touch to your pre-Christmas pampering.

There is also nothing better at this chilly time of year than to relax after a busy day of shopping with a hot meal or a cup of hot chocolate, in one of the warm, inviting coffee shops and restaurants in the area.

There are some wonderful eateries in Avoca Handweavers, Powerscourt Gardens, Fishers of Newtownmountkennedy, Greystones and Delgany, all of which lend themselves to a rest and a warm, cosy chat as the sun goes down.

Those of us who, year after year and with the best of intentions, leave every scrap of shopping to the last minute, can enjoy the comfort of knowing that, on our very doorstep, is a winter wonderland of fantastic service, festive cheer and the peace of mind that comes with supporting local business.

Pat, Karina, Eddie, Maureen and Lisa Johns at Powerscourt for Santa’s arrival.
