Barmen given a close shave

Bray People - - Schoolsreport -

MOVEMBER, the month formerly known as November, is now officially a thing of the past - as are the moustaches of four of the staff at Holland’s bar on the Main Street.

They had their lovingly cultivated facial hair expertly removed by two of the ladies from Headerz barber shop, on Sunday night in the pub.

Anthony, Alan, Stephen and John, raised between them a total of € 1,071.60 for men’s health, specifically prostate cancer. A total of €208,000 was raised so far nationwide, with more than 1,000 Irish ‘Mo Bros’ taking part in the global initiative.

Brian was the MC for the evening, and the customers and staff all had a great time, having had a great time slagging the lads off over the course of the month.

John, who always had a moustache and grew a beard for the cause, said that now his face is hair-free he doesn’t recognise himself in the mirror anymore!

customers generously brought in some spot prizes, which were raffled off on the evening, adding to the total amount raised.

The money raised by Movember will be donated to Action Prostate Cancer - an initiative of the Irish Cancer Society. It will be used to educate men on risk factors for developing prostate cancer, provide support and information to those who have been diagnosed, and highlight the need for men to be treated in specialist centres.
