Important year for bowling club
2009 WILL be an important year for Bray Bowling Club as they take on the presidency of the BLI, which is the governing body of the sport. This will be only the second time Bray has had this honour since its foundation.
The members wish to mark this special year by upgrading the club facilities. To meet the expense of these improvements, the club has embarked on a fundraising programme. So far they have held a number of events, including two quiz nights and a cake sale. They are also actively appealing for support and sponsorship from local business, civic and political figures.
Bray Bowling Club, founded in 1965, play lawn bowls at Failte Park, Adelaide Road, Bray. The object of the club is to play, promote and foster the game of bowls according to the rules adopted by The World Bowls Board.
The club is affiliated to the Bowling League of Ireland (BLI), and the Ladies Bowling League of Ireland (LBLI). The club has over 100 members, 65 men and 40 ladies. The income received from this fundraising is intended to meet the cost of necessary improvements such as painting, lighting and plumbing, and also to defray outlay on events associated with the Presidency.
