Fox the penalty shoot-out hero for Glen­view

Glen­view FC 2, St. An­thony’s 2 (Glen­view win 4-2 on penal­ties): There was plenty of foot­ball drama to be had on tele­vi­sion last week­end but there was also no short­age of ex­cite­ment at the Tem­ple Sports Field as Glen­view tri­umphed over St. An­thony’s in the Premier Shield in the most dra­matic of fash­ions.

Tied at 2-2 af­ter ex­tra-time, penal­ties were re­quired to sep­a­rate the Bray and Kil­coole sides and it was the hosts who were king of the spot kicks.

Owen Fox was the big hero, sav­ing two of Anto’s penal­ties, while Kieran ‘ Tarzan’ O’Brien, Justin Melia, Clin­ton Mur­phy and, fresh from his star­ring role for Wick­low Youths the pre­vi­ous day, Anto O’Neill scored Glen­view’s 12- yarders to en­sure their side would ad­vance to the sec­ond round.

Pa­trick Woods and Ed­die Dunne had scored for St. An­thony’s dur­ing the game while Glen­view’s scor­ers were broth­ers Justin and Martin Melia.
