Blessington keep Division 3 status
Blessington 3-14, Knockananna 1-6: Blessington left noone in any doubt about their right, or ability to play in Division 3 of the SFL next year with this big win over Knockananna in a relegation play-off at Tinahely on Sunday.
DIVISION 3 Knockananna did stay well in contention in the early stages but Blessington still led by 0-4 to 0-2 at the end of the first quarter.
Kevin Tyrrell gave the border team a boost with the first goal of the match but Michael O’Leary struck back with a goal for Blessington.
The blues added more points and when Patrick McGee struck for another goal Blessington were ahead by 2-9 to 13 at half-time and well on their way to victory.
So it’s Knockananna that make the drop to Division 4 but they can take heart from the fact that they will be operating in the best run division of them all next year with all their league matches on a Thursday evening.
