BREAK­FAST CLUB OUT­ING

Stu­dents who reg­u­larly at­tend the Break­fast Club were treated to break­fast at Ed­die Rock­ets last Mon­day morn­ing. The stu­dents were ac­com­pa­nied by their teacher Ms. Ka­vanagh and thor­oughly en­joyed their out­ing.

WORLD­WISE CON­FER­ENCE

On Wed­nes­day De­cem­ber 3, eight Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents rep­re­sented St. Thomas’ at the first an­nual World­Wise Stu­dent Con­fer­ence in Croke Park, along with groups of stu­dents from other schools in­volved in school part­ner­ships un­der the World­Wise pro­gramme. Par­tic­i­pants were in­vited to show­case the out­comes of their projects by cre­at­ing a Global Vil­lage mar­ket­place where they shared learn­ing and new ideas.

The key­note speaker was the Am­bas­sador of the King­dom of Le­sotho. Her Ex­cel­lency Mrs. Man­nete Ra­mail, was par­tic­u­larly in­ter­ested in St. Thomas’ stu­dents dis­play since their part­ner school is in Le­sotho.

The stu­dents par­tic­i­pated in work­shops fo­cussing on De­vel­op­ment Ed­u­ca­tion and in the af­ter­noon the Global Vil­lage was open to vis­it­ing schools.

WORK EX­PE­RI­ENCE

Tran­si­tion Year stu­dents are beginning their two week work ex­pe­ri­ence place­ment this week. Wish­ing all stu­dents the very best of luck.

ICE SKAT­ING

Thirty-five Fifth and Sixth Year stu­dents vis­ited the 7Up Christ­mas on Ice at the RDS on Thurs­day. A great day was had by all, es­pe­cially the Sixth Year stu­dents who wel­comed a break from their in­ten­sive stud­ies.

BAS­KET­BALL

The school bas­ket­ball team played a tough match in Sal­lynog­gin last Fri­day. Un­for­tu­nately the team lost 48-39. They will face St. Michaels’ Col­lege next week at home. Best of Luck!
