Young Dunlavin students get into the swing of things
OVER THE last six weeks the 4th class of Scoil Nioclais Naofa, Dunlavin National School have attended the Brendan McDaid Golf Academy in once a week for an hours coaching in golf to get a real introduction to the game of golf and develop their skills in the game.
Mr Tommy Brennan, Principal at Dunlavin National School said: ‘It has been a great way to introduce the children to the game of golf and made a local activity more accessible for most children who would not normally get such an opportunity. The Brendan McDaid Golf Academy has given the children another skill and taster for the game whilst giving the children a great hour of fun each week.!’
The 4th class teacher Mr. Daragh Flynn said the feedback from the parents has been excellent and they are delighted that their children have been given a new skill and enjoying their introduction to the game of golf. The children have really enjoyed the experience and many will follow up on fur- ther training available at the Academy.
Brendan McDaid Golf Academy in Rathsallagh has trained some of the top golfers in Irish golf today including Peter Lawrie, Colm Moriarty, Stephen Brown, Tara Delaney (Irish Ladies Close Champion 2007) and Kate Gallagher (Irish Girls Champion 2007).
Through the Academy’s various junior camps and Young Masters Golf run throughout the year they are hoping to produce some of the rising golf stars of the future!
Brendan hopes to encourage more schools to attend classes at the Golf Academy to introduce youngsters to the game.
