Ladies Underdogs: Bray Emmets and Wicklow had a great representation on the National Ladies Underdogs Team which was selected following trials which were held in mid-summer. 150 players went forward for selection in July and this was initially whittled down to 30. Following almost weekly sessions and one week long training camp, where performance was continuously measured, the final squad of 25 was agreed on. This final squad had two Bray Emmets players, Aoife Heffernan and Catherine Corbett. Congratulations to both. Catherine plays in goal while Aoife is corner-back. Wicklow was also well represented with two Greystones, two Roundwood and one Blessington players. This selection went to London at the weekend to play the the local London-Irish Ladies. London, who are the current All-Ireland Junior Champions, again came out on top with the scoreline of 1-10 to 0-9. While the Underdogs are very disappointed that their six months of effort went unrewarded, all of Bray Emmets are very proud of both Aoife and Catherine, well done to both.Your experience will be invaluable in the future.

The defence dominated throughout with superb defending from Ruby Stewart, Amy Barry, Shauna Douglas and Eve Cunnane keeping Cualas scoring opportunities to a minimum. Allanah Conroy and Grace O’Donovan comfortably won the midfield battle ensuring a comprehensive win to end the 2008 year for the girls. Final score Bray 5-7, Cuala 0-2.
