On Friday night we had our Stubbly Rose competition. Thirteen competitors took part and what a night of entertainment and fun we had. It was a laugh a minute from start to finish, all credit must go to the lads for the effort they put into their costumes and party pieces, each one gave us a great laugh it was a most enjoyable night. While the main aim of the competition was to make much needed funds for the club this was achieved on the night, we have no final figure on the profit as yet but it looks good. We thank the lads, the organising committee, the sound and light boys (they were brill), the escort (he did a great job), all who sponsored the contestants, those who bought tickets and sponsored items for the raffle on the night and the very large crowd that came to support. While it was not about who won there was a very worthy winner in Rose number 9, Miss Heidi Ho (Mark ‘Gooch’ Caplice), she/he received the crown Stratford/Grangecon Stubbly Rose Winner 2008. At the end of the night Mark and the other roses entertained the crowd with some lively music. Many thanks to all who helped in any way it is much appreciated. Thanks to Germaines’ for the venue. Stubbly Rose DVDs now available at €10 each from Dympna Hanly or any committee member.
