Put off road for drunken driv­ing

AWOMAN WAS put off the road for drunken driv­ing when she ap­peared at Bray District Court this week.

Miriam Rooney of 3 Bonta Na Slei­the, Clash­more, Water­ford, pleaded guilty to drunken driv­ing and danger­ous driv­ing at the Strand Road on Oc­to­ber 26.

The court heard that Rooney was stopped by gar­daí when she crossed a con­tin­u­ous white line and they sub­se­quently found that she was drunk driv­ing.

The De­fence Bar­ris­ter told the court that Rooney has a drink prob­lem and is ad­dress­ing this se­ri­ous con­di­tion, how­ever, her meet­ings are 26 kilo­me­tres from her home so she needs her car,

Judge Mur­rough Con­nel­lan con­victed and fined Rooney €250 for drunken driv­ing and dis­qual­i­fied her from driv­ing for three years to com­mence on Jan­uary 4.

The care­less driv­ing charge he took into con­sid­er­a­tion.
