Man took money from till at garage

A RATH­NEW man will be handed down his penalty for steal­ing money at a lo­cal garage on March 5 fol­low­ing a pro­ba­tion re­port.

Car­los Cork­ish of 22 The Bank, Rath­new, pleaded guilty to theft at Hills Garage in Kil­coole on Jan­uary 29.

Garda David O’Sul­li­van told the court Cork­ish en­tered the shop at around mid­day.

While the sales as­sis­tant was serv­ing him he reached over the counter and took money from the till.

He then ran out of the shop and down the street.

The De­fence So­lic­i­tor, Mr. Joe Maguire, told the court Cork­ish is cur­rently in a treat­ment cen­tre in Wick­low.

Cork­ish, who has four pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions in­clud­ing a one year sus­pended sen­tence for as­sault caus­ing harm, was re­manded on con­tin­u­ing bail un­til March 5 for a pro­ba­tion re­port and penalty.
