Woman jailed for steal­ing beer and cider

STEAL­ING beer and cider re­sulted in one woman go­ing to prison when she pleaded guilty at Bray District Court this week.

Natasha Mal­com­son of 17 Smyths Vil­las, Dun Laoghaire, pleaded guilty to four counts of theft at Spar on Rath­sal­lagh Drive in Shankill on June 28, July 30 and Au­gust 2 this year.

The court heard on June 28 at 3.50 p.m.Mal­com­son en­tered the Spar shop on Rath­sal­lagh Drive and stole a six pack of Dutch Gold, cans of Bul­mers and cans of Guin­ness amount­ing to €30.

At 17.40 p.m. on the same day she stole an­other six pack of Dutch Gold from the same shop.

On July 30 at 5 p.m. Mal­com­son stole cans of Bul­mers from the same Spar shop and again on Au­gust 2 at 10 a.m. she stole four cans of Bul­mers.

The sin­gle mother of one, Mal­com­son has 42 pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions, and is a for­mer heroin ad­dicted who is cur­rently on methadone.

Judge Mur­rough Con­nel­lan told Mal­com­son that he had to take the large num­ber of pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions into con­sid­er­a­tion and the fact that she stole from the same shop on four dif­fer­ent oc­ca­sions.

Judge Con­nel­lan con­victed and sen­tenced Mal­com­son to three months in prison and pro­hib­ited her from en­ter­ing the Spar Shop on Rath­sal­lagh Drive for two years.
