Owen is mascot for a day at ‘Aussie’ match

Bray People - - News Focus -

NOT MANY people get the opportunity to line out with their favourite sports team, so for Owen Kenny becoming a mascot for the day was a dream come true.

Owen recently performed as a mascot at Subiaco Ovel, Perth prior to the International Rules match between Ireland and Australia.

Twelve-year-old Owen has very strong Arklow connections with many relatives in the town.

Son of the late Owen Kenny who passed away in June of this year and Elizabeth Kenny (née Quirke) Owen has visited the town many times since his parents emigrated to Australia in 1989 to start their own business.

Owen’s special day was no doubt a great source of pride for his grandmother Elizabeth Kenny, South Quay and would have brought great joy to her late husband Capt. Peter Kenny and who was a member of Arklow Harbour Board for many years as well as to his mother’s parents the late Michael and Martha Quirke of Knockenrahan.

A keen sports enthusiast Owen along with his brothers Peter and Micheal take after their father in their love of everything from soccer to martial arts.
