Back to the ‘80s
theatre, radio and festivals across the world. Niall came to our school and performed to many classes. Each session was unique, mixing traditional Irish stories of Cu Chulainn and Fionn with personal anecdotes from his travels and childhood. All were mesmerised by his performance and students are now flocking to the library to re-live the experience with his audio cds A great day was had by all and Niall had this to say about our students: ‘These young people, and the attention, respect and enthusiasm they gave, are a credit to the school and the community.’
Wednesday last saw many visitors to our school as we held our open day. This was a great opportunity for local primary school pupils to visit our school and find out about our school and the wide range of subjects available. Students came from the local schools and were given a guided tour by our transition year students. There was also the opportunity for parents of perspective pupils to visit our school as we had an open night on the same day. We would like to wish a warm welcome to all who are thinking of sending their children to our school and a huge thank you to all the students and staff who helped out on these occasions.
Our transition year students had great day out at the RDS 7UP on ice experience recently. The students really enjoyed themselves as they whizzed around the ice. Mr. Connolly turned out to be an experienced skater but it was Ms. Karp and Ms. Burke who stole the show as they performed a triple lutes and a double axle much to the amazement of our students! Ms. Karp and Ms. Burke are our two visiting teachers from the USA and both are keen skaters. They were able to assist our students and in particular Ms. Karp gave a dazzling display of her fancy footwork on ice! Ms. McKiernan also gave some fine displays of her ice-dancing skills whilst Ms. Bools watched from the safety of the chocolate fountain!!!
