‘That’s the wrong fella,’ the driver of the vehicle was heard shouting, before the gunman jumped back in to the car which sped off. Gardaí said co complaint had been made.

Detective Inspector Frank Keenaghan condemned the gunshots fired in Ledwidge Crescent. ‘Thankfully nobody inside was injured. It could have been a far more serious incident.’

‘I thought that the tyre of a car had burst,’ said one Ledwidge Crescent woman who heard the loud bangs. ‘I thought nothing of it but just lay back down and went to sleep. My son phoned me in the morning to tell me what had happened.’

A woman, whose elderly mother lives in Ledwidge Crescent, said there were a number of older people living in the area who were now very nervous after hearing that a gun was used in the normally quiet estate.

Gardaí have launched an enquiry into theincident. Anyone with any information can contact Bray Garda Station on 01 6665300.
