Drunk in pub­lic

TWO AVOCA MEN who pleaded guilty to in­tox­i­ca­tion in a pub­lic place af­ter they caused a dis­tur­bance in Shil­le­lagh vil­lage have been ad­vised to make a €100 do­na­tion to the lo­cal St. Vin­cent de Paul.

Stephen Crean, 9 Sta­tion Road and David Kin­sella, 49 Wood­view Park were charged af­ter Gar­daí were called to Park View House, Shil­le­lagh on April 20, 2008 to find the de­fen­dants ar­gu­ing with lo­cal peo­ple.

Garda Christo­pher Mur­ray told the court that both men were ar­rested and were de­tained at the Garda Sta­tion overnight.

The court heard that Crean has no pre­vi­ous con­vic­tions but that Kin­sella has ap­peared in court be­fore.

Judge Mur­rough Con­nel­lan ad­journed the case to Jan­uary 21, 2009 to en­able the de­fen­dants to make the do­na­tions.
