Big Belly bins use sunlight to gobble up rubbish
BRAY IS now just the third location in the country to have solar waste bins installed.
Following in the footsteps of Leitrim and Trinity College and after months of pushing by Green Party Member, Councillor Caroline Burrell, Bray Town Council have taken two solar bins on trial in the town.
The innovative pieces of equipment have the ability to transform waste collection and control Health and Safety issues regarding waste and litter in the area and are located on the Main Street.
‘ The Big Belly Solar Bin,’ as it is more fondly known, compacts the waste and can hold up to a massive six times the normal street bin of it’s size, lending itself to less frequent emptying.
This will not only reduce costs for Bray Town Council but it will also reduce their carbon footprint.
‘ Even though they are solar powered they still work in cloudy weather which is good news for us,’ explained Cllr. Burrell,
