Little bit of fun at the Mermaid
SEASONAL and festive cheer filled the air at the Mermaid Theatre last weekend as they held two special Christmas events.
The annual dressing of the tree took place followed by the opening of this year’s seasonal exhibition.
Kids from the local area were invited to the Mermaid Theatre to help with the dressing the tree.
Over the past few weeks many of the kids in Bray and the surrounding areas have been creating and making their very own unique Christmas tree decorations.
On Saturday the kids brought their homemade decorations and placed them in pride of place on the Mermaid Theatre Christmas Tree.
A great afternoon was had by all as parents enjoyed some festive treats of mulled wine and mince pies.
Following the dressing of the tree the ‘A Christmas Gift’ exhibition opened to a fantastic response.
The exhibition includes work from an abundance of fabulous local and national artists and craftspeople.
Over the next few weeks featured work from Carmel Benson, Stephen Blayds, Jennifer Cunningham, Damien Flood, Imelda Healy, Joanna Kidney, Stephen Lawler, Kate MacDonagh, Kate Minnock, Philippa Sutherland, Shuttle Knit and Christien Van Bussel, will be on view.
‘A Christmas Gift’ is an ideal chance to view some great art and craft and perhaps purchase a gift with a difference this Christmas.
Knitwear from shuttleknit is on display until December 21 and a selection of print, painting and sketches will remain on display until Saturday January 3.
