Family furious as driver starts new life
DEVASTATED family members of the late Lilly Callan say they are furious that the driver who hit her, and failed to stop at the scene of the accident in which she was killed, has walked free and emigrated to New Zealand.
The 79-year-old Killeager, Enniskerry woman had been delivering presents to friends and had just got off the bus in the run-up to Christmas last year, when she was hit by a car with David Lennox at the wheel.
He drove away, leaving her on the lonely country road in Enniskerry where she died on December 17, 2007.
Lennox was fined €1,000 and banned from driving for two years last October, for leaving the scene of the accident.
