Lunch is served at Blackrock Rugby Club
DINERS from Bray and Shankill were amongst those who attended the annual Dun Laoghaire Christmas day lunch this year at the Blackrock Rugby Club.
Organiser Margaret Brown said that 300 people were catered for this year, 50 more than 2007. Guests were collected from their homes and brought to the venue for the 22nd annual lunch.
‘It’s such a lonely time and difficult for people in low financial circumstances,’ said Margaret. ‘It’s a special event to provide a dignified and happy lunch for people who are alone.’
She said that the occasion is about more than just the food, but making it a happy day for everyone. Santa paid a visit with presents of hats and scarves, after a bit of music from William Byrne and Des Kelly.
