WITH a thriving film school in the heart of the town, Bray is in with a good chance of taking home top prize in a contest aimed at promoting green messages.

The Green Party has launched a competition for film-makers and animators, who are asked to submit short videos. First prize is €1,000 and the winner will be selected by delegates at the Party’s Convention in March 2009.

‘We are looking for material from the next generation of filmmakers and animators, who will bring to life key green messages with power, originality and humour,’ said Minister for the Environment John Gormley.

The videos can cover a wide range of subjects like community action, energy efficiency, sustainable transport, green lifestyle, local food and climate change.

The short-listed entries will be those with the most views on the Green Party’s YouTube Channel. The closing date for entries is Monday February 16, and the two videos with the most YouTube views at 5 p.m. on Wednesday March 4 will be short-listed and voted on by delegates at the Green Party’s National Convention in Wexford in March.
