THE TWO Charity matches run by Glencormac United F.C. will took place last Sunday. The first game saw the coaches take on the U16 team for the Joe Molloy Memorial Shield.
The coaches took the lead through an Andrew Molloy strike but fitness (or lack of it) took its toll and the young guns ran out 4-1 winners.
Sean Conroy had an outstanding game for the coaches on the day.
It is not sure if the coaches will be lodging a protest as both Emmett Burke and Eoin Farrell from the Youth team were key members of this victory.
The game was followed by the senior team v the Youth Team for the Benny Finnerty memorial Cup. This was a trilling game of football and with ten minutes to go, the youths led 2-1.
However, three late goals saw the Senior team win out in a 4-2 win. Anyone that attended the game will be aware of how good this youth team is and hopefully they will bring silverware to the club in 2009.
A huge thank you to the players and supporters for their donations on the day and €480 will be divided equally for the Irish Heart Foundation and Bray Cancer Support.
Also, a big thank you to the referee on the day, Dominque Lachaussee, who officiated at both games in the absence of regular referee Thoms ‘Tucker’ Dowling who was not available this year and all at Glencormac United wish him a speedy recovery.
Both the players and committee of Glencormac United would like to wish you and your families a wonderful and a happy New Year and the club would once again like to thank you all for the great support it received from the community over the past year.
