Gardaí amazed at risks drivers take in snow

Bray People - - News Focus -

GARDAI are ‘ stunned by the antics,’ of some drivers in ice and snow, reporting speeds of up to 120 km/h on the M50 and N11 over the last number of days.

Garda Declan Lynch made an appeal for people to slow down in bad weather. ‘ Speed limits are exactly that. You must drive to the weather conditions,’ he said. ‘You have to be aware of what can happen in a split second.’

He said that other road users might not be experienced. ‘ You need to take the foot off the pedal and drive to the conditions. It’s something only experience can teach you. The consequences of speeding are just not worth it.’
