More peo­ple like to live in houses

HOUSE­HOLD­ERS here pre­fer to live in a house or bun­ga­low than most of the rest of the coun­try and house­hold sizes also tend to be slightly big­ger.

Wick­low also has an av­er­age of 2.89 peo­ple per house­hold com­pared to an av­er­age of 2.81 peo­ple na­tion­ally.

A to­tal of 43,857 house­holds in Wick­low live in per­ma­nent dwellings. Peo­ple in wick­low are more likely to live in owner-oc­cu­pied homes (77.2 per cent) than peo­ple else­where in Ire­land (74.7 per cent).

House­holds in Wick­low are less likely to won their houses out­right than the na­tional av­er­age.

A to­tal of 32 per cent of pri­vate house­holds own their homes out­right in Wick­low com­pared to 34.1 per cent na­tion­ally. Within Wick­low more owner oc­cu­piers hold mortgages on their homes than own their homes out­right.
