BRAY’S ‘Home In­stead’ Se­nior Care has is­sued a free guide for car­ers of peo­ple with de­men­tia and Alzheimer’s.

‘There are for­got­ten he­roes of Alzheimer’s dis­ease and other mem­ory re­lated con­di­tions,’ said Sea­mus Mur­phy, Di­rec­tor of the Wick­low branch of Home In­stead.

‘They are the fam­ily care­givers who work each day looking af­ter loved ones who are no longer able to care for them­selves.’

Sea­mus said that stress is a con­stant for those peo­ple.

‘When they even­tu­ally burn out, emo­tion­ally or phys­i­cally, the lives of those they are car­ing for of­ten fol­low suit,’ he said that while there are out­reach ef­forts to tar­get the suf­fer­ers of de­men­tia, care­givers may still feel iso­lated and over­whelmed by their re­spon­si­bil­i­ties.

The new in­for­ma­tion guide ex­plains some of the ba­sic facts about the dif­fer­ent forms of the con­di­tion, looks at prac­ti­cal ways of deal­ing with some of the most com­mon is­sues as­so­ci­ated with the dis­ease.
