Mary White, R.I.P.

Bray People - - Kilmacanogue Diary -

THERE WAS great sadness in the Kilmacanogue area last Tuesday night when news came through that Mary White had sadly passed away.

Mary had not been well of late but her passing came as a great loss to all her family. Mary was one of the Sinnott’s of Kilpeddar before a young handsome man by the name of Gilbert (Gill) White swept her off her feet and they were married in 1953.

They lived in Bray all their married life and had two sons, George and Gibby. They also had a daughter Liz who got in with a right crowd of girls from Kilmacanogue back in 1982 in Loreto school and Kilmacanogue is like Liz’s second home ever since.

At Mary’s funeral mass, which saw a huge crowd gather to pay their final respects, it was recalled how Mary, although a Pioneer, made sure callers to the house got an extra large measure of any drink, be it tea or a short and how she loved a full house surrounded by family and friends.

She was devoted to St. Fergal’s parish church and as well as cleaning it every week, she worshiped there on a weekly basis and it was lovely to hear the local choir in such fine voice as she made her final journey. Her son Gibby paid a lovely tribute to his mother at the mass and recalled her great devotion for her family and friends (and the old horses also). She will be remembered fondly by us all in Kilmacanogue who knew her and deepest sympathy is sent to her husband Gill, Sons George and Gibby, daughter Liz, her brother Peter and her Sister Nellie, son in law Willie, daughter in law Teresa, grandchildren George, Luke and Tara and all the extended White and Sinnott families. May her soul Rest in Peace.
