The weather was the winner again last weekend with wind, heavy rain and snow the order of the day. All our team’s matches fell foul of the elements apart from the Under 12’s league game away to Greystones.

This game went ahead thanks to the home sides all weather pitch and the 12’s came away with the three points after an emphatic 7-nil victory. Mark O’Brien score three goals for the second game in a row to show that brother ‘Nelly’ isn’t the only O’Brien who knows where the goal is.

The ever-improving Darragh Carthy added two goals and there were excellent finishes by Sean Dease & Lydia Sinnott-Elliott to complete the goal tally. In a good team display, Chantelle Owens, Steven Kennedy and Ciaran Daly were among the players to shine.

Just the one player from the club celebrating a birthday this week and that’s Bryan Kennedy from the 12’s/13’s.

No truth in the rumour that dad PJ (Liverpool fan) was seen handling the new Man United kit as one of Bryan’s presents. Happy birthday Bryan from everyone at Newtown Juniors FC.
