THE SEVEN teams rep­re­sent­ing Wick­low Ten­nis Club in the Dublin Lawn Ten­nis Coun­cil Win­ter League all played their matches on Sun­day last.

Each team con­sists of three dou­bles pair­ings. The men were out first in the morn­ing with three home matches.

The first team un­der the cap­taincy of John Ward were un­for­tu­nate to lose their three games to Clon­tarf in a home draw. James Gorm­ley and his sec­ond team trav­elled to De Vesci and en­joyed a 3-0 win.

John Sex­ton and his third team also en­joyed a 3-0 win at home to Fitzwilliam and Glenn Malone’s fourth team who had an early start at 9.30 a.m. won 2-1 against Glas­nevin at home.

The ladies took to the courts in the af­ter­noon. Shion­nagh Downey and her first team had great matches in their first round against Naas but lost out nar­rowly to gain­ing points.

Cather­ine Mer­ri­gan’s sec­ond team headed to Rath­gar where they en­joyed a 3-0 win. Michelle Hen­derPhillips and her third team were nar­rowly de­feated by Co. Wick­low Lawn Ten­nis Club when they lost 1-2.

Well done to all the play­ers and subs and we wish all the teams well next Sun­day.
