Greystones United 2, Fairwood Celtic 0: A very young Greystones United side climbed to the summit of Division 3 after this victory over title rivals Fairwood Celtic.

DIVISION 3 It’s amazing to think United currently occupy top spot in their division as at the start of the season they suffered defeats in their opening three fixtures and looked set for a long hard season.

Instead though thanks to a goal in each half United have knocked BBK United off their throne, for the time being at least.

Fairwood on the other hand have now lost their last two league matches and find themselves trailing the leaders by six points.

United took the lead in this one ten minutes before the break.

Striker Daniel Webb collected the ball just outside the area and his shot found the net with the help of a big deflection off a Fairwood defender.

The hosts then eased the pressure on themselves when they found the second goal early in the second half, with former Pres Bray student showing golf wasn’t the only sport he could play, when converting a cross from the right.
