Aughrim footballers had a good turnout at their first training session on Saturday last. Training will continue on Tuesday night at 7.45 p.m. The Dawn Lacey tournament semi-finals will be held over this coming weekend, with Aughrim playing Annacurra in Annacurra under lights at 7.30 p.m. on Friday night. Ballymanus will play host to Avondale on Saturday at 2 p.m. in Askanagap in the second semi-final.

The Aughrim home pitch in the Community Field is undergoing a change at the moment, with the playing field being moved forward because of the proximity of the new Community Sports Complex. This has presented the opportunity to paint the goalposts, to remark the field and also to change the alignment of the pitch. Plans are also under way to erect a new ball barrier at the Redna end. The playing conditions are very wet at the moment and the pitch should benifit from the short rest. Following a recent meeting of the juvenile section within the club, an awareness meeting will be held on Saturday, 19th February with the intention of meeting parents and organising juvenile registration. It has been decided to hold a Presentation Function in March to present their medals to the Junior championship winning hurling team.

At the recent Club Committee meeting a vote of sympathy was passed with the families of Reg Hunt, Gda. Gerry Finan, Brendan Corbett, Mrs.Traynor and Sonny Holt, all of whom died recently.
