Corn na Mílaoise a wonderful success
WITH OVER twentyseven teams taking part in the indoor football tournament for boys in rang a trí agus rang a ceathair, Corn na Mílaoise was indeed a wonderful success.
The tournament took place in Roundwood GAA Hall and Arklow and Loughlinstown Leisure Centres. Taking part in Arklow were Gaelscoil Inbhir Mhóir, Arklow BNS, Brittas Bay, Aughrim N.S. and Crossbridge N.S. Roundwood was the venue for Scoil Chaoimhín Naofa Glendalough, St. Ernan’s Rathnew, Scoil Pádraig Naofa Curtlestown, St. Patrick’s Valleymount, St. Nicholas’ Dunlavin, Kilbride N.S. and St. Laurence’s Roundwood. Making the trip to Loughlinstown were St. Fergal’s, St. Peter’s, St. Cronan’s, Scoil Chualann, Gael Scoil Uí Chéadaigh (all Bray), St. Brigid’s Greystones, St. Kevin’s Greystones, Kilmacanogue N.S., Newtown, St. Pat’s Wicklow Town and St. Anthony’s Kilcoole.
A feature of the tournament this year was the number of schools that brought along a second team; such was the enthusiasm of the young boys to play for their school.
Hopefully next year we can persuade more schools to do likewise. Again it reflects the philosophy of the Go Games - less competition and more participation! All the young budding stars had a minimum of three games and made lots of new friends on the day.
Go raibh míle maith agat to Coaching Officer Gareth Doyle for helping out on the day at the Roundwood venue.
Great credit is also to Pat Lynch Gaelscoil Inbhir Mhóir who helped organize the Arklow venue, and as usual to Dave Barry who not only made the necessary arrangements for Loughlinstown, but also co-ordinated the entire tournament.
