County camogie news
A HUGE congratulations to Karen Walsh of Donard/Glen Camogie Club and member of the Donard/Glen Senior camogie team, who was chosen as camogie player of the year in the Garden County GAA Sports Star Awards 2008.
She was presented her award on Saturday, January 24, in Arklow Bay Hotel, conference and leisure centre.
Karen has been playing camogie for many years now, at first with her native Dunlavin and in most recent years with Donard/Glen Camogie club.
Since joining Donard/Glen, she has won one Intermediate championship and two Senior championships.
Last year was the club’s most successful year to date, winning the Senior championship, shield and league.
Karen also played for the county last year, and is hoping that the county team will go even further this year.
Karen, along with her team-mates in Donard/Glen are currently undertaking a new challenge; to develop the underage teams in the club and she urges anyone in the area with young girls to come and join the fun on Saturday mornings.

The first get-together was held on Sunday, February 1, in Glenmalure and was a great success.
The next training session will commence on Sunday, February 8, in Glenmalure. All players must be in attendance at 10.45 a.m. with training beginning at 11 a.m. sharp. Players are requested to bring indoor and outdoor gear.
