A SPANISH exchange student who was hit by a bus on Herbert Road last week was still in an induced coma at Beaumont Hospital yesterday, as medical staff prepared to bring him out of it.

The child underwent surgery to relieve pressure to his brain as his devastated father, who has travelled from Spain, waited for news of his son’s condition.

The 12-year-old, who is a student of Belvedere Hall College in Windgates, suffered head injuries as a result of the collision which took place on the Bray road on Wednesday evening last at around the time of 5 p.m.

He was rushed to hospital for emergency treatment and is being treated at the ICU in Beaumont.

Gardaí are hopeful that the young boy will make a full recovery despite the fact that, for the moment, he remains in a serious condition.
