Tourism is way out of crisis claim members
TOURISM IS the best way to lift the county out of economic freefall according to certain members of Wicklow County Council.
Cllr. Ciaran O’Brien said that the tourism potential of the county is not being maximised while Cllr. Tom Fortune said the Council ‘was only scratching the surface with what we are doing’.
He said in difficult times the council needed to focus on different actions.
Cllr. Jimmy O’Shaughnessy said that all the hotels, bed and breakfasts and self-catering places in the county were in serious difficulty because of high water charges and this needed to be addressed.
Some councillors believe that tourism is the way to lift the economy.
