BRIDE-TO-BE Aisling Prendergast thought her boyfriend was joking when he proposed to her in Spain but now she is only days away from her dream wedding.

Aisling (30) from Kilnamanagh, Tallaght is due to marry fiancée Gareth Fletcher (28) from Springfield on St. Valentine’s Day in St. Mark’s Church, Tallaght before heading to Summerhill House, Enniskerry for their reception.

Aisling and Gareth first met 11 years ago but the course of true love never runs smooth and the couple split after a brief period. However two and a half years ago their paths crossed again and it was second time lucky for the couple.

‘We moved in pretty much straight away and ten months ago we had a baby boy, Ryan. At first getting married on St. Valentine’s Day started as a bit of a joke and because we only booked our wedding 14 months ago I didn’t think it would be available but we rang Summerhill House because I always wanted to get married there and it was free and so was the church so we decided to go for it.’

Aisling and Gareth were on holidays in Spain when Gareth surprised her by asking if she would get engaged. Thinking he was messing she said yes and even when they went ring shopping and picked out a ring she thought he was still messing. However when he got down on one knee and proposed to her in the middle of a show in Spain she realised he was serious and said yes straight away.’

Aisling said she hopes the day will be extra special with the feeling of romance in the air and said that at least they won’t ever forget their special day.

Flower girl on the day will be Aisling’s daughter, eight year old Hannah, while baby Ryan will be the pageboy.

The couple will honeymoon in Egypt although Aisling confessed she is a little nervous at the thoughts of leaving the children for a week but no doubt they will be spoilt rotten while she is away!
