Man argued with girlfriend on bus
HIT WITH FINE GARDAÍ CALLED TO INTERVENE AS PASSENGERS INVOLVED IN HEATED EXCHANGE
A MAN WHO was arguing with his girlfriend on the top deck of a bus ended up with fines totalling €1,000 in his absence at Bray District Court last Thursday.
Garda Brendan Dowling said that he and his colleague Garda John Comerford were on mobile patrol when hailed by a Dublin Bus driver on the Main Street. David Ryan of no fixed abode was involved in a dispute.
There was an altercation on the top of the bus. Garda Dowling said that Ryan was at the rear with his girlfriend and there was a heated exchange.
He said that his eyes were glassy and there was a smell of alcohol on his breath. ‘I was trying to speak to him but he kept looking at his girl- friend. I asked him to look at me while I spoke to him,’ Garda Dowling told the court.
Ryan then threw his jacket aggressively, nearly hitting Garda Comerford in the face.
Garda Dowling said that he spoke to Ryan’s girlfriend the following day and she assured him that the accused would appear in court.
He was fined € 500 for being drunk in public and €500 for disorderly conduct.
