BACK­STAGE ACADEMY ran their most re­cent open evening at St. Thomas’ Com­mu­nity Col­lege, No­vara Av­enue in Bray Fri­day 30 Jan­uary evening last.

Tony Daly from ‘Back­stage Academy’ was very pleased with the at­ten­dance on Fri­day night and went on to say that ‘with their cur­rent class size of seventy eight and twenty four on the wait­ing list he was de­lighted with the turnout.’

‘With chil­dren leav­ing at leav­ing cer­tifi­cate age to pur­sue ca­reers, or go­ing on to col­lege there’s no prob­lem fill­ing the places as they be­come empty,’ he added

The highly-qual­i­fied in­struc­tors who are the­atre and tele­vi­sion-trained pro­fes­sion­als and also stu­dents looking for a chance to work in pro­duc­tion.

Some of the fea­tures of the academy are the pop­u­lar work­shop pro­grames that in­clude, drama, act­ing for TV and film, mod­el­ling, mime and dance classes.

Back­stage stu­dents have fea­tured in TV and Stage pro­duc­tions such as ‘Break­fast on Pluto’ and ‘Aifric’ and ‘Pros­per­ity’ which were fea­tured over the Christ­mas pe­riod, and also the RTE run ‘Starsearch’ which was won by Back­stage stu­dent, John Gaughan.

The academy runs a first come first served pol­icy and in­struc­tors are all First Aid qual­i­fied.
